TUNES OF THE WEEK- reviews

Hello! Just some songs I am really enjoying at the mo. (not necessarily new btw)

1.) Bright Lit Blue Skies- Ariel Pink's Haunted Grafitti
--It's a catchy tune that sounds really old skool (lol), and makes me nostalgic for Grease, as in the chorus, you can imagine Danny and his crew all join in. IT'S GREAT

2.) Chapel Club- All The Eastern Girls
--I must admit, took me a while to get into, but the chorus is sublime, and the lead singers voice is very dark, I'm feeling it. He is, also very handsome, which doesn't hurt while watching the video (hehe cheeky). Also his voice is pretty dark, I was expecting them to be a lot more moody, their sound isn't that intense. They seem like cool people, when I read their interview, and I like how they think of some music as art. CHEK IT O-UT.

4.) The Field Mice- If You Need Someone
----As soon as you play this, it has a great beat, and you can imagine skipping down the street to it. The lyrics are so sweet, I wish someone would say dat to m3!! God damn. But seriously, it's really brill and i'd suggest it!

The XX

So, just saw someones status stating 'OMG the xx are soooooo shit and boring'.
What the hell?

The XX are brilliant. And what's this shit about 'a record that should be locked away appart from in summer'. The XX is a band you can play all year round.
They let the beat do the talking, as their voices are quiet, adding an almost eery feel to the songs. This may come across, as some idiots think, as them trying to look cool, just because their voices are soft- LOL. If you watch some of their interviews, they seem like soft spoken, modest artists, who aren't up themselves, and just genuinely love making good music for godsakes. Or maybe they seem like they want to be hipsters because they use lyrics like 'and i will mirror images back at you'. It's poetic, and interesting, that flow nicely. Song meanings don't have to bloody JUMP out at you. The lyrics aren't that freaking complex tbh 'Heart skipped a beat, but when I caught it you were out of reach'.. Hmmm yah a real mind-bogglah!!! teehee

If you read their lyrics, they can have all sorts of meanings, not one obvious set in stone one, like Kate Nash's -e.g 'i just want ya kiss boy'. Some people think their lyrics are about sex, whereas some do not. In addition, they are incred live. And yes, i'm on a rant about this, and fair enough people are entitled to their own opinions, but I am sticking up fo these guyz. THEY WON THE MERCURY PRIZE. They even play in 90210, which i'm not that pleased about.. but whatevs you get the point. If you're in the mood, for jumping around, loving life, these guys aren't the best people to be listening to. If you want a chillout kinda thing, play them, or yeah...

LUV DA XX, LISTEN TO DA XX,

Festivals 2011

So, kind of xfghfdj about what i'm doing this year for summer, the fesitvals.
I'm definitely going to Latitude, as it's family friendly, i love the foresty bit, and it's quite a chilled vibe.

I'm only going to Latitude, however if the line-up is gud. I do like knowing what the line-up is first, that's what slightly pisses me off about people booking tickets for reading and making it their status like 'READING BOOKED!!!! WOOP GUNA B LIVE'. Ok.. so you're obvs going for the lash-up or social 'experience' since you have no bloody clue what the line-up is. Is it just me who finds the bands playing a big factor?
Plus sides of Reading is big bands like The Strokes could play, who I love, but the big mobs of people, and people stoned all around me, makes me want to gag.

Ideally, i hope the XX play again at Latitude, and Foals, and well, in an ideal world The Strokes but that ain't gonna happen. AND OBVVS my favourite band of all time, 'O. Children'.

COMEDY GENIOUS

Aman Ali is an inspiration to all. He is incredibly witty, and isn't afraid to be daring, about topics particularly on religion. Here is my favourite video of him performing at his finest:

Youth In Revolt

I watched 'Youth In Revolt' today. Top film. As much as I love Michael Cera, I was getting slightly fed up with his classic role as the nerd who is polite to the ladies, yet never gets action. In this film he had another side of his personality, who was a french badboi. Oh and the guy in 'The Hangover' plays his hillbilly father. Bre jkz

The only thing that made me feel a bit sad, was the main protagonist (hahah) 'Sheenie' was so bloody mysterious. She loves french vinyls, lives in a trailer park, writes letters to people, and comes out with the most random, 'remember me 4evs' sayings. Whereas, somebody like me is the complete opposite. It's a bliddy repeat of Zooey Deschanel in most her films. WEIRD GALZ CAN BE MEMORABLE 2. EFF IT. heheheeeh

. (but go see Youth In Revolt iz funni)
